Michael "Mike" Ray Elsass, age 65, of New Carlisle, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2026. He was born on June 23, 1960, in Dayton, Ohio, to Doyle and Delores (Tootie) Elsass.
Michael was preceded in death by his beloved first wife of 40 years, Carolyn (Ann) Elsass; his parents, Doyle and Delores Elsass; his former father and mother-in-law, Charles (Jeana) Hooten, and multiple aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa (Missy) Elsass; daughter, Brandy (Chris) Welch; son, Dustin (Brittany) Elsass; stepson, Jake Sanning; grandchildren, Makayla Brittain, Sydney Brittain, Ethan Elsass, and Ella Elsass; step grandchildren, Ashley Welch and Christopher Welch, step great grandchild, Amina Lomidze; sister, Vicki Chadwell; brothers, Doug Elsass and Rodney (Donna) Elsass; former sister-in-laws, Norma Palmer and Charlie (Twain) Carter; former brother-in-law, Richard Hooten; and his very special friends who became chosen family, Leroy (Tawnya) Brock and Terry (Vickie) Caudill. He is also survived by numerous others including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Michael retired as a Warehouse Supervisor from Heraeus Epurio after several years of employment, and previously dedicated many years to Cooper Tire. He took great pride in his work and the relationships he built throughout the years.
Michael was a loving husband, father, papa, son, brother, cousin, uncle, and friend who will be deeply missed. He was known for loving those he cared about with all his heart and for his unwavering loyalty to family and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and spending time with friends at “The V”. He shared his love of caring for animals on the farm by teaching his children and grandchildren everything they know about raising farm animals. You could count on him to greet you with a smile, likely dressed in jeans, a T-shirt, maybe a flannel, and wearing his favorite ball cap. His generous, loving spirit, and dedication to those he loved will be forever remembered.
Michael shined light on those around him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
