Listen to Obituary

Michael Murphy Sr., a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on August 18, 2025, at the age of 57. Born April 26, 1968, Michael lived a life filled with laughter, adventure, and an unwavering generosity that touched the lives of many.

Known for his infectious sense of humor, Michael was often described as a jokester, always ready to share a laugh or a clever quip. His ability to make others smile was a testament to his larger-than-life personality. Michael was not only a great dad but also an awesome grandpa, taking immense joy in the time he spent with his grandchildren. He cherished every moment, creating a legacy of love and laughter that will continue to resonate in their hearts.

An adventurous spirit, Michael had a zest for life that was both inspiring and entertaining. His friends affectionately dubbed him "Temu Evel Knievel" due to his penchant for adventure, despite his well-documented accident-prone nature. Nonetheless, he faced life's adventures with a contagious enthusiasm, always embracing the thrill of the moment. Michael was also known for his trademark hats, never leaving home without one, a little quirk that became a defining part of his character.

He is survived by his children, Amy Zwettler (Jason), Michael Murphy Jr. (Cassie), and Anthony Maxwell, who carry forward his legacy of humor and love. His grandchildren—Brandon, Madisen, Cameron, Liliann, Christian, Nova, Liam, Austin, Landin, Hunter, Ryder, Ro, Keenan, Isa, Modi, and Gida—were a constant source of joy and pride for him. He was also blessed with a great-granddaughter, Silver. Michael shared a deep connection with his siblings, Ronnie, Drema, and Lori, along with many nieces, nephews, family, and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Billy Murphy and Margaret Murphy, as well as his siblings Kevin, Teresa, Marsha, and Rhonda. Their memories will forever remain a part of his story and the life he built.

In remembering Michael Murphy Sr., we celebrate a man who exemplified kindness, humor, and an adventurous spirit. He will be deeply missed, but the love he shared and the laughter he created will endure in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know him.
