It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Wayne "Mikey" Ishmael Jr., who left this world peacefully at home on October 31, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 19, 1965, in Dayton, Ohio, Mikey quickly became known for his funny and goofy personality, capturing the hearts of everyone who had the privilege to know him. He was not just the life of the party; he was the reason for many joyful gatherings and countless cherished memories.
Mikey graduated from Fairmont East High School in 1983, which was just the beginning of a life filled with laughter, love, and adventure. He dedicated his career as a press operator for Westendorf Printing, where his work ethic and sense of humor shone brightly. When he wasn’t working, Mikey found joy in various hobbies such as fishing, hunting, being outdoors, golfing, and celebrating with friends over a drink of Windsor at One More Tavern.
Family was the cornerstone of Mikey's life; his greatest pride came from his beloved children, Lauren (Jordan) Benock and Aaron Ishmael. His role as a devoted grandfather to Cameran, Clara, Isla, and Indie brought him immense joy and fulfillment. Mikey cherished every moment spent with his family; they were the light of his life and his proudest accomplishment.
His relationship with his life partner of 13 years, Tammy Koller, was built on love, companionship, and unwavering support. Mikey's protective nature extended to those he loved, making him not only a loyal partner but also a steadfast rock for his family. He is survived by his parents, Della Bostick-Hoop and Michael Ishmael Sr., and his sisters, Sherry (Steve) Morse and Shelia (Ron) Merritt. Mikey also leaves behind his step-siblings, Kelly (Dave) Miller and Eric (Jamie) Bostick, who loved him dearly.
Mikey will be fondly remembered for dancing with Lauren to "Mambo #5" on her wedding day, the friend adventures during their trip to Punta Cana, summer vacations at Norris Lake, and fishing excursions to Peaceful Valley with friends. Each of these memories encapsulates the vibrant spirit that defined his life.
Mikey is preceded in death by his stepmother, Brenda Ishmael. Though no longer with us, his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched. As we gather to honor Mikey's memory, we invite friends and family to join in a visitation at Newcomer Funeral Home in Beavercreek on November 8, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM.
