Listen to Obituary

Michael L. Black Sr., age 79 of Dayton, Ohio passed away passed away peacefully with his family by his side on September 7, 2026. He was born March 28, 1947 in Dayton, Ohio. The son of the late Mackievious and Mary Black (Arnold).

Michael served as a probation officer for Montgomery County for 4 years. He then went on to retire from General Motors after 19 years of dedicated service. He was an avid Ham Radio user with his handle "Zebra 1 -KADA1433 " over and out, and professed his self to be the family DJ. Michael loved to have family barbeques, play card games, and just be with family and friends. He was a huge Cleveland Browns fan and an avid record player. Michael always loved to play a practical joke and bring laughter to those around him. Halloween was the time of year that he brought life to everything, decorations, scaring everyone in the house, and the fun.

Radio shack was the store that he enjoyed going to, the intercom system, the walkie talkies, are a few of the favorite memories that he shared with his children.

Michael was an amazing father who loved each and everyone of his children with his whole heart. He demonstrated that by always taking photos and keeping albums, and just being present and giving good advice. He would always say to "trust a sober mans actions and a drunk mans words" because a drunk man always tells the truth. He will be dearly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his wife, Jaqueline Black (Hinch); grandsons, Myron "K.J." Taylor and Ronald James; siblings, Donald, Wanda, Florence, Maxine, Phyllis, and infant brother, Richard.

He is survived by his children, VeeDa Rucker, Michael Black Jr., Kasey (Myron) Taylor Sr., Stormy Black, Jason Nichols, and Amber (John "J.K.") McKinney; grandchildren, Alexandria, Tyler, Marian, Tasheka, Takaysha, Tamaya, Cameron, Jasmine, Brandon, Ahnyiah, Adrianah, Sydney, Malia, Briana, Jaunna, Jasan, Ally, Jasaya, Jason Jr., Jaceon, Jalencia, Kailyn, and JVion; 24 great grandchildren and Ace Michael; siblings, Kathy (William) Allen, Douglas Black, Marilyn Arnold, and Raymond Black; as well as numerous other family members and friends.
