Michael A. Smith

Michael A. Smith, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on July 8, 2025, in Cincinnati, Ohio, at the age of 71. Born on July 3, 1954, in Springfield, Ohio, Michael lived a life that was characterized by both a stubborn determination and a delightful sense of humor.

After serving honorably in the U.S. Air Force, Michael found work as a forklift operator at Eby-Brown, from which he eventually retired.

Michael had a special affinity for spending quality time with his grandchildren. He created lasting memories with them through leisurely moments spent napping on the couch, enjoying cookouts where he took great pride in manning the grill, and cherishing their laughter.

As a devoted husband of 35 years to Rhonda K. Smith, Michael's love for his family anchored his life. In addition to his wife, he will be deeply missed by his son Cory S. (Ashley) Smith, and grandchildren Raylan, Aaliyah, and Karter who will always carry his memory in their hearts. He also leaves behind his great-niece Brandi (Adam) Collins and great-nephew Dustin Richardson, who will remember him fondly.

Michael was preceded in death by his father William H. Smith, mother Myrtle G. Smith, sister Doris Kline, niece Sherry Richardson, nephew Rick (Connie) Richardson, and his beloved dog, Buddy, who brought joy to his days.

Outside of his family and work, Michael loved to immerse himself in the world of military shows and westerns, with a particular admiration for films featuring John Wayne. His legacy of humor, tenacity, and affection for his family and friends will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.

A private celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date.
