Melvin L. Abernathy

Melvin L. Abernathy, age 89, of Waynesville, passed away at home surrounded by his family on May 4, 2024. Melvin was born in Dayton, Ohio on May 18, 1934 to the late Kenneth and Marjorie Abernathy.

Melvin is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 67 years, Carolyn and his son, Keith.

He is survived by son, Marc Abernathy; grandchildren, Kristi (Larry) Stamper and Ian (Stephanie) Buchholz; great-grandchildren, Zachary Weiss, Hunter Stamper, Charlotte and Laura Buchholz.

Melvin retired as a Dayton Fireman after 33 years of service. He was a member of the Western Woodworker's Association for many years. Melvin is also an Air Force veteran, working on bomb navigation systems during his service. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking, reading and spending time with his friends and family. Melvin and Carolyn were avid travelers in their younger years together.

There will be a graveside service held at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens on Monday, May 13, 2024 at 10:00am.
