Melissa Leaverton (Hemming)

Melissa Leaverton (Hemming), a devoted and compassionate soul, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026. Born on November 24, 1973, Melissa was known for her boundless kindness and selflessness, always placing the needs of others before her own. Her gentle spirit and caring nature touched the lives of many who had the privilege of knowing her.

Melissa cherished the simple joys in life. She had a passion for arts and crafts, where her creativity flourished, and she found solace and happiness in sewing and bowling. These interests were not only hobbies but also avenues through which she expressed her generous heart and vibrant personality.

She is lovingly remembered by her devoted parents, Charles and Marcella Hemming, who provided her with unwavering support and affection throughout her life. Her sister, Christina (Brandon) Beagle, holds dear the close bond they shared, as do her niece and nephew, Kayley and Tyler, who brought light to her days. Melissa’s fiancé, Brian Gardner, stood steadfast by her side, sharing in her dreams and her life’s journey. She will also be fondly remembered by a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

While we mourn her loss, we also honor the memory of her beloved grandparents, Edna and Melvin Price, and Ethel and Charles Hemming Sr., who preceded her in passing and whose legacies live on in her gentle spirit.

Melissa Leaverton was a beacon of care, generosity, and creativity. Her memory will forever inspire those who knew her to live with kindness and compassion. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends, who cherish the beautiful imprint she leaves behind.

A visitation will be held from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at Newcomer Kettering Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd., with her service beginning at 1:00pm. Following the service, Melissa will be laid to rest at Miami Valley Memory Gardens.
