Melissa A. Henderson, affectionately known as "Missy" to those who had the joy of knowing her, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026, in Centerville, Ohio. Born on September 27, 1965, in Dayton, Ohio, Missy’s life was a tapestry woven with vibrant colors of love, strength, and an unyielding spirit.
Missy was a proud graduate of Tipp City High School and pursued further education at Edison Community College, where she laid the groundwork for a lifetime of learning and growth. Her career was marked by dedication and loyalty as she worked for Mark Concepts for many years, where her commitment and work ethic touched many lives.
To describe Missy is to capture a spirit both strong and tender. She was spunky and very blunt, sometimes stubborn, yet soft-spoken and possessing a huge heart. She moved through life with a rambunctious energy that was contagious, always greeting the world with a warm smile that brightened the days of those around her. Missy was, above all, just a great person—one who welcomed every moment with genuine joy and kindness.
Her passions reflected the richness of her character. Missy was a gifted cook, delighting her loved ones with meals made from the heart. She found solace in reading and enjoyed puzzles and crosswords, activities that spoke to her sharp mind and love for challenges. A huge fan of country music, there were few things she loved more than listening to her favorite tunes while savoring a classic Coca-Cola, a simple pleasure that brought her great happiness.
Missy's legacy lives on in the cherished family she lovingly nurtured. She leaves behind her devoted husband, William Henderson, whose steadfast love was a pillar in her life. Her children, Brent Frederick (and Amber), Tramika L. Henderson, Latasha Henderson, and Shawn Frederick, carry forward her strength and spirit. Melissa’s joy extended to her grandchildren: Juellz, Giovanni, Simari, Shawn Jr., and Shayla, who fill their memories with her warmth and laughter. She was also a beloved sister to Gary E. Frederick Jr. (Tina), and she is remembered fondly by a host of other relatives and friends, each touched by her presence.
Missy's journey was marked not only by those who remain but also by the loving memories of those who passed before her: her father, Gary E. Frederick; mother, Vickie Hall; brother, Theodore V. Frederick; son-in-law, Demarcus McComb; and granddaughter, Akela. Their absence is felt deeply, yet they are forever part of her enduring story.
The loss of Missy leaves a profound void, yet in the hearts of all who knew her, her vibrant spirit continues to shine. She reminds us that a life well-lived is one filled with love, laughter, and the courage to be unapologetically oneself. Rest in peace, Missy—you will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
