Melissa Ann Daugherty, a radiant spirit whose laughter could brighten even the darkest of days, was born on November 2, 1970, in Dayton, Ohio. She passed away peacefully in her hometown on November 23, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, resilience.
Melissa was known for her funny, bubbly, and feisty personality that drew people to her. She had an unwavering strength and a caring heart, always ready to lend a helping hand or a cheerful word of encouragement. Melissa was a fighter; she never backed down from a challenge and had an admirable determination to persevere through life’s trials.
Her family and friends were her greatest treasures. They meant the world to her, serving as a core part of her vibrant life. Melissa is lovingly remembered by her father, Michael Aveyard; her daughter, Kaitlyn (David Brombaugh) Daugherty; and her sister, Amanda (Justin) Boze. She cherished her niece, Paige (Shane) Eshelman, and took delight in the lives of her great-nieces, Lynlee and Reese. Melissa’s two beloved fur-babies, Littles and Darby, brought her endless joy and companionship. Adding warmth to her life was the presence of her special friend, Gary Daugherty, who brought light and support during her journey.
In her free time, Melissa found joy in shopping and loved embarking on trips to Tennessee, where she made lasting memories. Her infectious enthusiasm and caring nature were felt deeply by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Melissa was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Sandra Gnau, and step-father, Cletus Gnau. Their love and influence shaped her into the incredible person she became, and they will continue to be a part of her story.
Friends and loved ones are invited to gather to celebrate Melissa’s life. Visitation will take place on November 30, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a heartfelt Celebration of Life at 12:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home - North Dayton Chapel, located at 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, OH 45424.
