McCoy Fitzgerald, a devoted family man and respected member of his community, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025, in Beavercreek, Ohio. Born on August 8, 1927, Jamestown, Tennessee, on route 127 McCoy's life was a testament to hard work, dedication, and service.

McCoy proudly served in the United States 5th Airborne, which later became the United States Air Force during World War II. His military service took him across the Pacific, to places such as Okitio, Yokohama, Okinawa, and Tokyo, Japan, where he skillfully worked on road grading. Known for his reliability, he was the only member of his unit that was able to drive, showcasing both bravery and a strong sense of duty.

Following his honorable service, McCoy transitioned into civilian life and pursued a career that reflected his diligent work ethic. He served as a high lift operator for Frigidaire until his retirement in 1977. His commitment to his profession mirrored his dedication to his family and faith.

Educated at Sargent York High School, McCoy furthered his skills by attending a local vocational school where he studied heating, air conditioning, and plumbing. This foundational education enabled him to provide for his family while instilling in them the values of perseverance and hard work.

McCoy's passions outside of work were as vibrant as his professional life. He loved swimming and had a keen interest in cars. His faith was of utmost importance to him, and he attended Cornerstone Baptist Church, where he found community and solace. McCoy's personality was defined by his love for Jesus, his hardworking nature, and his generous spirit.

He is survived by his beloved daughter, Sondra Cooley; his granddaughter, Natasha (Terry) Saylor; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Sullivan and Samuel. McCoy leaves behind a legacy of love and pride in his family, which he considered his greatest accomplishment.

He is preceded in death by his dear wife, Grace Fitzgerald; his parents, Elmer and Mable Fitzgerald; and his son, Timothy Fitzgerald. He also mourns the loss of his son-in-law, Jeffrey Cooley.
