Matthew Norman Tanksley, age 70 of Miamisburg, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. He was born January 25, 1955 in Dayton, Ohio, the son of the late Norman and Harriet Tanksley.
Matt worked as a Legal Data Analyst for Lexis Nexis for many years, as well as as an editor for the Dayton Daily News in his later years. Matt loved the Cincinnati Reds, as well as Ohio State sports, and could be found enthusiastically rooting on OSU’s football and basketball teams. Matt also enjoyed participating in weiner dog racing with his two beloved dogs, Pepper and Barkley.
Matthew is survived by his daughter, Heather Tanksley (and former wife, Theresa); his brother, Jeff Tanksley; and his sister, Yael Shaner. He is also survived by his former wife and friend, Jeannie; step sons, Nathan, Tyler, and Travis Reed; niece, Ananda Harris; cousin, Gary Reese; close friend, Rob; and several great nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Thursday, May 8th, with a visitation from 2PM-4PM and a service at 4PM at Newcomer Centerville Chapel (820 Miamisburg-Centerville Road, Dayton, OH 45459).
