Matthew Adam Grote, born on October 9, 1960, in Dayton, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on November 19, 2025. He was a devoted husband, loving father and brother, and cherished friend, known for his vibrant personality and unwavering dedication both at home and in his professional life.

A graduate of Yellow Springs High School, Matt distinguished himself as an exceptional athlete, excelling in football where he played on both offense and defense. He continued to showcase his skills at the University of Dayton, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Communications and played offensive tackle throughout all four years of his collegiate career.

Matt's professional journey led him to become a successful Sales Manager with Jasper Engines and Transmission, where he won numerous sales awards and trips. He touched the lives of many with his admirable work ethic and was well-liked by coworkers and clients alike for his approachable nature and willingness to lend a helping hand.

Outside of work, Matt was passionate about various hobbies. He enjoyed pheasant hunting, morel mushroom hunting, boating, and deep-sea fishing, reveling in the beauty of nature and the great outdoors. His love for the ocean and beach served as a backdrop to many cherished moments with family. The 4th of July held a special place in his heart, as he loved to set off fireworks with his brothers, creating lasting memories filled with joy and laughter.

Matt's greatest pride was his daughter, Megan. The time they spent together was precious; whether it was bowling, fishing, or attending car shows, their bond was profound and filled with love. He was a "take charge" kind of guy, a trait that was evident in his approach to life, family, and friendships. His spirit of generosity extended to everyone around him, embodying a giving nature that made him a beloved figure in his community.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 34 years, Karen Grote, and their dear daughter, Megan Grote. Matt is also survived by his siblings, Joe (Mary Jean) Grote, Jim (Cammy) Grote, and Mary Beth (Chris) Stave; his brother-in-law, Bill (Susan) Hoskins; and sister-in-law, Joyce (Steve) Parmley; along with numerous nieces and nephews who will forever hold him in their hearts.

Matt is predeceased by his parents, Robert and Marianne Grote, as well as his mother-in-law, Margaret Hoskins, and father-in-law, Wheeler (Lois) Hoskins. 

His legacy of kindness, love, and dedication will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. His memory will live on through the stories shared and the love he instilled in those around him.
