Mary Louise Spencer

Mary Louise Spencer, cherished daughter, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully with family by her side on July 24, 2026, in Beavercreek, Ohio. Born on May 29, 1941, in Morehead, Kentucky, Mary’s life was an enduring testament to compassion, faith, and joyful connection.

Mary’s journey began in the rolling hills of Kentucky, but it was in Beavercreek that she came of age, graduating from Beavercreek High School in 1959. Determined and diligent, she went on to earn her associate’s degree in Secretarial Studies from Miami Jacobs, equipping herself with skills that would form the foundation of a lifelong career marked by dedication and grace.

She spent many years as an administrative assistant at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, earning the respect of colleagues and acquaintances alike through her kindness, reliability, and unwavering work ethic. But Mary’s sense of purpose extended well beyond her professional endeavors. Through the years, she lovingly opened her heart and home as a nanny—a role she cherished, especially as a “bonus grandma” to Jack and Eli, the beloved children of Todd and Annette Boyd. Mary’s nurturing spirit made her not just a caretaker, but a guiding presence who shaped the lives she touched with gentle wisdom and inextinguishable warmth.

From a young age, Mary was enveloped in the bonds of a large and loving family. She is survived by her dear brother David (Debbie) Black, and her sisters Janet (Don) Patrick, JoAnn (Mike) Dawson, and Tammy Wright, each of whom shared in her laughter, her support, and her deep well of empathy. Mary’s circle was broadened by friendships built on trust and joy, and she will be missed deeply by friends Mary Bryson, Todd Boyd, and Annette Boyd. Though Mary mourned the passing of her parents, Elmer and Edna Black, along with siblings Eugene, Larry, Don, Ron, and Sharon, she always kept their memories close to her heart, honoring them each day with her life of generosity and love.

Mary’s spirit gleamed brightest in the moments spent doing what she loved: reading, singing, and immersing herself in the sounds of music. She was ever present in her church community at Victory Baptist Church, delighting in fellowship and in sharing her beautiful voice in praise. Her faith was at the core of her being, guiding her through hardships and inspiring those around her with the strength and comfort she drew from her relationship with her Lord Jesus Christ.

Known for her patient strength and her vibrant sense of humor, Mary brought light to every room she entered. Families remember her as kind, loving, and endlessly generous—a true caretaker in every sense, who put the needs and happiness of others before her own. During her time at Trinity in Beavercreek, even through her battle with dementia, she was known to make sure that the residents around her were well taken care of. More than accolades or achievements, Mary considered her greatest pride to be the relationships she fostered and the love that surrounded her. She lived simply but fully, rooted always in gratitude, humility, and devotion.

As we mourn the loss of Mary Louise Spencer, we celebrate the legacy she leaves behind: a tapestry woven with laughter, song, unwavering faith, and above all, love. Her absence is keenly felt, but the lessons and affection she gave so freely live on in every heart she has touched.
