Mary E. Schumacher

Mary Elizabeth Schumacher, age 92, of Trinity Community of Beavercreek, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, August 28, 2026. She was born in Decatur (Brown County) Ohio on December 15,1933 to the late Joseph and Della Yockey.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Sylvester (Tony) A. Schumacher in 2000. Her youngest son, Gregory Alan Schumacher passed away in 2017 due to a brain tumor.

She is survived by her son, Michael A. Schumacher (Candace); her grandchildren, Lauren E. Schumacher, Allison K. Finley (Shawn), Christopher M. Schumacher, and Joseph Benjamin Schumacher (Alyssa); and her four great-grandchildren, Jonathon and Elizabeth Finley and Cole and Sadie Schumacher.

Mary grew up on a small family farm raising burley tobacco. She graduated high school in 1951 and traveled to Dayton and was married to Sylvester (Tony) Schumacher in 1953. She settled in Kettering, Ohio and lived there for over 65 years until moving to Trinity Community in Beavercreek due to failing health.

She was actively employed for over 10 years at Rike’s Kettering in the cosmetic industry. She moved to the JC Penney Company and retired after 47 years at age 84.

Mary shared a love of traveling with her husband. They visited all 50 States and foreign countries including Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Venezuela, and the Caribbean Islands. After Tony passed in 2000, she continued to travel Europe with her friends and coworkers for another 22 years.

There will be a graveside service at Calvary Cemetery mausoleum on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 1:00PM. Go to your left as you enter and continue going left up the hill.
