Mary Jean Robbins

Mary Jean (Jeannie) (Capps) Robbins, 88, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026. Loving wife of Paul Ray Robbins for 65 years, cherished mother of Jerry (Julie) Robbins and Leah (Craig) Terrell and adored grandmother of Ben (Cana) Robbins, Jared (France) Robbins, Rachel Terrell, Nicole (Paul Rafoul) Terrell, Stephanie Terrell, Jessica Terrell and great-grandchildren Charlie, Theo, Poppy, Gwendolyn and Camille.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Robbins, her parents Mary W. Capps and Eugene Capps, sister Judy (Bobby) Wright and brother Johnny Capps.

Mary was an incredible person who was always ready to help anyone who needed it. Her ministry to others was to serve them in some way, whether it meant cooking them a meal or helping out with cleaning or laundry. She freely gave of anything she had. If she had something and you commented that you liked it, she would offer it to you and insist that you take it. 

She was also an incredible musician. She played the piano, organ and accordion by ear. She played both the piano and organ at church on a regular basis. She could play anything that she heard, even if it was only hummed to her. She was also a great singer who loved singing harmony with her children. On family trips and drives, singing occurred more often than listening to the radio.

She was an amazing cook and made everything from scratch, often using the fruits and vegetables that she grew and canned. All three meals were usually cooked every day.

She was also an amazing seamstress, and made most of her clothes as well as those of her daughter when she was a child. 

She loved silk flowers and making arrangements with them. She had arrangements for every season and would rotate them. She also blessed others with her arrangements for her church and eventually, the nursing home where she spent the last 4 ½ years of her life. 

She always wanted everyone to get along and was the peacemaker of the family. She always said, "If you can't say something nice, it's better not to say anything at all." She tried to be positive in every area of her life, even when things were hard.

She was an amazing person, and her legacy will remain in the hearts of her family and those who knew her.

A graveside service celebrating Mary's life will take place at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at the New Silvercreek Township Cemetery located at 1000 St Rt. 72 South, Jamestown, Ohio.
