Listen to Obituary

Mary M. Woods, born Mary M. Stone, went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 13, 2026, in Dayton, Ohio. She was born on October 2, 1948, in Fort Mountain, Tennessee, and carried through her life a devotion to family, faith, and quiet daily care that left a lasting mark on those around her.

Mary worked as a pharmacist at Dayton Children's Hospital, serving in a role centered on compassion, precision, and the well-being of others. Beyond her work, she found joy in gardening and in the simple happiness of doting on her dogs. These tender routines reflected the warmth with which she moved through the world and the love she gave so freely.

Her faith was a steady and guiding presence in her life. Mary attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church and had been a member there since 1999. She was diligent about reading her Bible, and her faith remained deeply important to her. It shaped her days, strengthened her heart, and was woven into the way she loved her family and lived her life.

Among all the blessings of her life, Mary counted her family as her proudest accomplishment. She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Woods; her grandchildren, Cody Latimer, Destiny Latimer, Jeremy Latimer, and J. Michael Latimer. In their lives, her love continues on, and in their memories she will be held with deep affection.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Steven Woods; her father and mother, Bill and Mae Stone; and her siblings, Yvonne Gibbs, Jack Stone, Lillie Mae Cruz, Donald Stone, Bob Stone, Billy Stone, and Nellie Peyton. Their memories remained part of the story she carried throughout her life.

A graveside service will be held on September 23, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Dayton Memorial Park, 8135 N Dixie Dr, Dayton, Ohio 45414.

Mary will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her care for others, her love of home and garden, and the deep pride she took in her family. Her life was one of devotion, and her memory will remain a comfort to those who knew and loved her.
