Lewkowski (Kahnoski), Mary Ellen “Mickey” 06/14/1939 – 08/22/2025. Mary Ellen Lewkowski went to be with the Lord on August 22, 2025 in Beavercreek, OH. Mickey, as she liked to be referred to, was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Thomas J. Lewkowski. Mickey is survived by her children and their families: William (Paula) Lewkowski, Scott (Patty) Lewkowski, Gregory (Carol) Lewkowski, Christine (Alan) Toorenaar, and Alisa (Steven) Watson. She was a loving grandmother to 12 grandchildren and great-grandmother to 5 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her brother Richard (Mary) Kahnoski along with many more family and friends.

Mickey devoted her life to her husband and children as she was a homemaker when her children were young. Watching Notre Dame football, golfing, and traveling were among her favorite past-times. Originally from Grand Rapids, MI, when Thomas retired, they relocated to The Villages, FL where they golfed, entertained, and hosted family and friends. In 2021 Tom and Mickey relocated to Beavercreek, OH to be closer to family. The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care in her final days.

A celebration of life will take place on May 9, 2026 in Dayton, OH. For more information, contact Alisa Watson.

~One night a man had a dream. In it he was walking along a beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand, one belonging to him, and the other to the Lord. When the final scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back, at the footprints in the sand.

He noticed many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints, and realized that they came at the hardest and saddest times of his life.

Bothered about this; he questioned the Lord saying, "Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way.

But I have noticed that during the most burdensome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints.

I don't understand why that when I needed you the most you would leave me."

The Lord replied, "My dear child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."~
