KLEISMIT, Mary Genevieve Age 95 of Springfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 20, 2025 in Aventura at Oakwood.
Mary Heider attended grade school in Fairborn, OH for high school. She spent her freshman, and sophomore years at a Catholic School in Cincinnati where the nuns taught her to sing. She later in life sang for weddings, Catholic masses and funerals, but her notable achievements was singing for governor Rhodes of Ohio and with Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. Mary spent her junior, and senior years at St joseph's Commercial High School where she graduated in 1948. She immediately began a long stretch of working for doctors. Mary was a loving and devoted mother, daughter, sister, and friend.
Mary married Richard Kleismit (US Military) in 1951, they were married for 65 years. in the 1960's she taught cooking class, and singing lessons at Corpus Christi School Dayton, OH. in addition to home-making.
In the 1980s, Mary and Richard shared rock/gem collecting while on vacations, and this later evolved into Mary designing and creating jewelry from semi-precious stones. She named her business “In the Rough”.
In the late 1990s Mary became a member of the Town, and Country Gallery in Kettering. In 2005 she additionally became a member of the Village Artisan Gallery in Yellow Springs, and sold jewelry for 15 years. It also would not be uncommon to find her in Ohio at the Troy Rock and Gem show, the Cincinnati Rock and gem shows, Indiana Bloomington Rock and Gem Show or various festivals and small gift shops.
Richard and Mary shared their 50th wedding anniversary in 2001 and Mary continued to make, and sell her jewelry and sing at church until the arrival of Covid.
Mary leaves behind to cherish her memory, sons and daughters, Sondy, Rick, Victoria and Nicholas; grandchildren, Kurry, Samantha, and Ricky, Steven, Tyler, great grandchildren and numerous, cousins, and friends.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on July 30, 2025 at Newcomer Funeral Home - Beavercreek Chapel, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 am on July 31, 2025 at St. Teresa Catholic Church, 1827 N Limestone St, Springfield, OH 45503. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery.
