Mary Elizabeth Gillis

Mary Elizabeth Gillis, age 59 of Xenia, passed away Monday, April 5, 2021 at The James Cancer Hospital. She was born July 25, 1961 in Long Island, New York the daughter of Melvin and Kathleen Gillis.
Mary was a faithful member of St. Luke's Catholic Church, where she sang in the choir. She worked as the Director of the Greene County United Way for over 20 years. She also sat on various boards throughout the community. Some of her favorite projects were coordinating the Thanksgiving and Christmas food distributions, the Book Bag project and the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. She loved her grandchildren and her dogs dearly.
She is preceded in death by her father.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Sarah Jane Knierim; mother, Kathleen; grandchildren, Gabriel, Isabell, & Maryann; sister,Virginia Rinaldi; adopted sisters, Diana Beam & Linda Robinson; and many other loving family members and friends.
Memorial Contributions can be made to the Xenia Area Fish Food Pantry in Mary's honor at 774 Cincinnati Ave, Xenia, OH 45385.
A Mass will be held at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Mary's honor.
