Mary Lou Frick, born November 21, 1930, in Dayton, Ohio, passed away on October 14, 2026.
The youngest of seven children, Mary Lou lived a long life shaped by family, faith, and the simple pleasures she cherished most. She was a very simplistic person, and those who knew her will remember her great sense of humor and the warmth she brought to everyday moments. She took pride in her Swedish heritage, a part of her identity she held dear throughout her life.
In May of 1954, she married Roy K. Frick, and together they shared many years of marriage and devotion. Mary Lou and Roy were long-time members of the First Lutheran Church, as well as Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Oakwood, a church community that remained an important part of their lives. Roy and Mary Lou also enjoyed spending time at Lake Lakengren and South Bay by the golf in Destin, Florida. She also found joy in the familiar routines and small comforts that made life sweet. She loved Ohio State football, enjoyed nature and animals, especially dogs, and looked forward to visits to the beauty shop and the small community fellowship that came with them. She also had a special fondness for chocolate candy, especially Esther Price.
Mary Lou’s family was at the heart of her life. She is survived by her daughters, Jeanne (Jerry) Harmeyer and Janis (James) Stratis, and by her son, Eric (Amy) Frick. Her love also lives on in her grandchildren, Jennifer (Josh) Pike, Stephanie (Randall Claeys) Conners, Phillip Conners, Kari (Chris) Ritzi, Kelly (Jon) Keim, Mark Stratis, and Eric Frick Jr. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Dominic Pirigyi, Arya Pike, Adalynn Pike, Alyssa Ritzi, Mariah Ritzi, Jocelyn Keim, and Conrad Keim. Each of them was part of the family circle she leaves behind, and her memory will remain with them in lasting and tender ways.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy K. Frick; her granddaughter, Alexandra Frick; and her parents, Egon and Marianne Von Greyerz.
Mary Lou will be remembered with affection for her humor, her steady and uncomplicated way of living, and the happiness she found in family, faith, and life’s small joys. Her memory will continue to be treasured by all who knew and loved her.
A funeral service will be held at 3 PM on October 27th, 2026, at Davids Cemetery Community Mausoleum. A visitation will be held prior to service at 2 PM at the mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Mary may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
