Marvin H. Gardner, went home to be with our Lord Savior on Friday January 9, 2026 at 5:39 pm.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard & Kathryn Gardner; brothers, Bob (Wanda) Gardner and Tom (Judy) Gardner; son, Russell Gardner & his wife Helen.

He leaves behind his sons, Marvin (Tonya) Gardner and Chad (Carolina) Gardner of Englewood; Grandchildren, Nikki Birag of Vandalia, Alyssa Shreve of South Carolina, Codie Coffee of Dayton, great-grandchildren, Devon, Ramsey & Presley Birag of Vandalia, Emma Shreve of South Carolina, and Gabriel Coffee of Dayton

After graduation he served in the National Guard.

He then became a toolmaker at General Motors retiring after 30+ years.

His passion was flat track racing and he enjoyed being on the track slinging dirt and winning trophy's. Every year, he and his friends would ride their motorcycles to the Springfield Mile in Illinois. He taught Marvin Jr. how to race and followed in his foot tracks. He would go to all of Marvin's races and offered advice on this and that. He enjoyed watching him race very much. He and Marvin Jr. enjoyed these cherished moments together and watched the pro's on television.

He enjoyed his life and had many friends, three being, Gary Davis, Dave Biter and Tom Faulkner.
