Marty Chinn, a devoted family man, skilled handyman, and vibrant personality, passed away surrounded by his loving family on February 19, 2026, in Dayton, Ohio. Born on October 9, 1963, at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, Marty lived a life characterized by his boundless enthusiasm, willingness to help others, and an unwavering love for his family.
Known for his ornery charm and infectious happiness, Marty was a man who could light up a room. He had a unique ability to connect with everyone he met, as no one was a stranger to him. His passion for life was evident in his hobbies; he had a particular fondness for motorcycles and NASCAR, and he treasured every moment spent dancing with loved ones. However, it was with his family that Marty found his greatest joy—especially in the time he shared with his grandchildren.
Marty was a true "Jack of all Trades." With remarkable ingenuity, he could fix anything for anyone, often offering his skills without expecting anything in return. His helpful nature made a significant impact on the lives of those around him, earning him a reputation as a dependable friend and neighbor.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 12 years, Carol (Goodpaster) Chinn, who was the light of his life. Marty's legacy continues through his bonus children, Kyrie (April) Ross and Rachel (Devin) Goldie, and his cherished grandchildren, Lylah Ross, Zoey Lewis, and Ruby Lewis. He is also survived by his devoted sister, Cherlyn (David) Grove, brothers-in-law, Larry Goodpaster and Bruce (Teresa) Goodpaster, step-mother, Joyce Chinn, nephews, Brandon (Krystal) Sanders and Shane (Victoria) Sanders, cousins, Eddie Thompson and Jamie Thompson, along with numerous extended family members and friends who will remember him fondly.
Marty’s dedication to his family and his unwavering generosity will be remembered dearly by all who knew him. He joins his father, Charles Chinn; mother, Barbara Thompson-Chinn; and brother, Charles Chinn, Jr., in eternal rest.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a memorial service from 2:00PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Kettering, 3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering, OH 45439. Family and friends are encouraged to gather to celebrate the remarkable life of Marty Chinn, honoring his memory and the indelible mark he left on those around him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made out to Bella Care Hospice in memory of Marty, https://www.celebratelife-foundation.net/pages/donate.aspx
