Mark Anthony Swanson

Mark Anthony Swanson, 40, of Moore, Oklahoma, passed away on July 19, 2026, after a long fight with cancer.

He is survived by his husband, Brennan Kerkstra; his mother, Janice Swanson; his father, Bennett Swanson; his sister, Sarah Hornung; and his beloved dog, Kain.

Mark was born in Oxford, England, on August 14, 1985, to Bennett and Janice Swanson. He moved to Moore, Oklahoma, at age 8, where he grew up and built lifelong friendships. At 17, he began working at the Commissary while attending Oklahoma City Community College, graduating in December 2007. He later worked as a civilian for the United States Air Force and earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Central Oklahoma in May 2012.

Throughout his life, Mark cherished time with his closest friends - Cory Perschbacher, James Ball, and Brandon Roll - playing video games, watching movies and TV, and simply enjoying each other’s company. He loved being outdoors, especially taking peaceful walks in nature with Kain. He had a passion for calligraphy and often spent quiet moments practicing and creating beautiful handwritten pieces.

Mark was known for his selflessness, kindness, and unwavering care for others. He consistently put people first, offering help, comfort, and support without hesitation. His gentle spirit and generous heart touched everyone who knew him.
