Mark Anthony Sopczak, born on December 20, 1959, at Sandia Air Force Base, New Mexico. He passed away peacefully on November 29, 2025. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Mark dedicated the majority of his professional life as an Aircraft Refueler, Load Master, and Heavy Equipment Operator for Emery Worldwide, serving the company faithfully from 1981 until his retirement in 2006. His exceptional work ethic and commitment to excellence shone through in his career, earning him the respect and admiration of his colleagues.
A proud graduate of Stebbins High School, class of 1979, Mark went on to embrace life with a spirit that was hilarious, loving, kind, generous, outgoing, and social. His personality made him popular and approachable, traits that endeared him to many.
Mark was a devoted father and grandfather, and among his proudest accomplishments were his children and grandchildren, as well as his cherished nieces and nephews. He took particular joy in spending time with his family and friends, often seen riding his Harley motorcycle or hanging out with his loved ones. His chocolate lab, Buck, was a faithful companion by his side. A passionate cook, widely known for his spaghetti sauce, Mark loved to share meals with those close to him while enjoying the thrill of Michigan Football and Cleveland Browns Football.
Mark's interests extended beyond the home; he found pleasure in gardening, tinkering, traveling, reading, and attending concerts. His eclectic collection of hobbies showcased his outgoing nature and zest for life. Mark had a love for his country and an unwavering admiration for those who served in the military.
He leaves behind a loving family that includes his daughter, Janisa Lynn Marie (Kyle) Pearson; his son, Clint (Corrine Hasbrouck) McMillan; his brother, John (Lucinda) Sopczak; and his sisters, Kathy (David) Perez, Cindy (Tim) Stahl, and Sandy (Terry) Jones. Additionally, he is survived by his grandsons, Kenneth Bruce Pearson, Rian McMillan and Malakai Hasbrouck.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Gladys Sopczak; brothers, Bruce Sopczak, Kenneth Sopczak and Richard Sopczak who undoubtedly shaped the wonderful individual he became.
Visitation will be held on December 5, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 6:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home in Beavercreek, Ohio, located at 3380 Dayton Xenia Rd, Beavercreek, OH 45432.
Mark Sopczak's humor, warmth, and spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His memory will be honored and cherished through the stories shared and the impact he had on each life he touched.
In lieu of fresh flowers, and in honor of Mark's love of plants, potted plants are preferred if flowers are to be sent.
