Marian Rose Turpin, affectionately known as "Nanny," "Nina," and Mimi," a cherished matriarch and friend to many, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025, at The Laurels of Kettering, surrounded by her beloved family. Born on June 10, 1947, in Mount Sterling, Kentucky, Marian lived a life characterized by love, laughter, and an unyielding spirit that touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Marian was a fun-loving and outgoing individual, known for her infectious smile and welcoming nature. She never met a stranger, always ready to engage in conversation or share a laugh, making her a beloved figure in her community and amongst her family. Everyone admired her toughness and resilience, qualities that defined her character and inspired all around her.
Her greatest joy in life stemmed from her family. Marian was a wonderful mother to her three sons, Mark (Stacey) Turpin, Shaan (Renee) Turpin, and Rodney (Teresa) Turpin. She took immense pride in her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother, showering her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with love, attention, and memorable gifts, especially during the Christmas season. Her grandchildren—Kylie (Greg) Tiu, Mark (Aubrianna) Turpin, Andrew (Ashton) Turpin, AKea Turpin-Hardin, Shaan (Emily) Turpin Jr., Cameron (Kellie) Turpin, Brandon Turpin—and her great-grandchildren—Karmen and Kendall Tiu, Jack and Henry Turpin, Rylann Turpin, Lakin Hardin, Teagan Hardin, Quinn Hardin, Carter Turpin, Laylani Turpin, Elliana Turpin, and Bennett Turpin—will forever hold warm memories of their time with her.
Marian's interests were simple yet fulfilling; she relished in eating good food and enjoyed shopping. Despite her petite stature at 115 pounds, her presence was nothing short of larger than life. She had a unique ability to bring joy to those around her, evident in the many friendships she forged throughout her life.
She leaves behind brother-in-law, Dewayne (Jan) Turpin, her loving siblings, Linda Walden, Larry (Sandy) Napier, James Napier, and Janet Bell, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and countless friends who will remember her fondly. Marian was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Turpin Jr.; sister-in-law, Charlene Grunwald; and mother-in-law, Wanda Turpin.
Marian Rose Turpin will be lovingly remembered for her unwavering spirit, generosity, and the warmth she brought to all whose lives she touched. Her legacy of love and kindness will live on through her family and friends, who are grateful for the time they shared with such a remarkable woman.
