Margaret Regina (Oster) Smith, age 85, of Beavercreek, passed away on June 21, 2026. She was born to Matthew Oster and Regina (Rafferty) Oster in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on February 8, 1941.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Carl Smith; sister, Donna (husband, Gene) Lenzi; brother, Matthew (wife, Stephanie) Oster; children, Edward (wife, Tammy) Danber, Thomas (partner, Mary) Danber, Michael (wife, Melanie) Danber, Sharon (Danber) (husband, John) Miller and Stacey (wife, Vanessa) Smith; grandchildren, Patrick, Kyle, Caleb, Courtney, Natalie, Marcus and Mitchell; and her furbabies, Mikki and Mimi.
Peggy was a wonderful artist, prolific in oils, watercolors, pastels, metals, glassware and pottery. She went from a quiet, self-taught artist to directing large art festivals through her work and friendships in local art communities. Peggy was sweet and soft-spoken, excluding games for money - usually pennies. She was typically underestimated at her opponent's peril. She was smart enough to allow others to think they were more intelligent than her, which was rarely the case, as time was the ultimate vindication for her sweet humility.
Peggy adored her grandchildren, her garden, amazing neighbors (Sue and Leonard), and wonderful memories of Band Stand, the beach, and her many lucky pets. She hosted many wonderful holidays with mean money puzzles for grandkids and was finally called out on inaccurate House tallies in her annual "Guess How Many?" games. Typical - she had the last and quietest laugh.
Peggy was a friend to everyone she knew. She was very easy to love and will be missed by many.
A Celebration of Peggy's Life will be held at a later date by her family.

(In honor of Peggy's reunion with her pets)
"When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together...."
