Margaret Lee Huffman, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and a cherished member of her family, passed away on January 21, 2026, in Beavercreek, Ohio. She was born on April 8, 1941, in Garrard County, Kentucky, the daughter of Glen and Christine McQuerry. Margaret lived a life marked by strength, wisdom, kindness, and selflessness.

With a career dedicated to her work as a contractor, she left an indelible mark through her contributions and hard work ethic. Her professional achievements were secondary to her profound devotion to family and friends. Margaret’s legacy will forever be celebrated by those who were blessed to know her.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Andrew) Schmalstig, who carries forward her mother’s spirit and values. Margaret was a proud grandmother to her grandchildren: Heidi (David Van Daele) Huffman, Dustin (Jessica) Decker, Joshua Schmalstig, Karla Huffman, Lacey (Kevy Gostlin) Schmalstig, Kaitlyn Schmalstig, and Noah Schmalstig; her great-grandchildren: Zoe, Mason, Reagan, Addison, Alana, Kylie, Blaine, Jaylen, Lydia, Arielle, Benjamin, Tabaranza and Athena; and a great-great-grandchild, Athena Van Daele.

In addition to her immediate family, Margaret is survived by her loving sisters: Wanda Flynn, Mildred (Joe) Purcell, Loretta (Barney) Parker and Boots Whittaker; along with many other nieces, nephews, family, and friends who will carry her memory in their hearts.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; Glen and Christine McQuerry; her beloved husband, O'Neal Huffman; her infant son, Ricky O'Neal Huffman; her son, Barry Huffman; her grandsons, Barry Huffman II and Benjamin Huffman; as well as her siblings, Ross McQuerry, Martin McQuerry, David McQuerry, Gordon McQuerry, Jerry McQuerry, Glenna Castle and Virginia Simpson. Each loss was a profound sorrow for her, but she remained a pillar of strength through it all.

As we remember Margaret L. Huffman, we honor a life well-lived, characterized by love, dedication, and unwavering support for those she held dear. Her legacy will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Services will be held privately by her family at Valley View Memorial Gardens, in Xenia, where she will be laid to rest by her dear husband, O’Neal.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Schmalstig, David Van Daele, Dustin Decker, Joshua Schmalstig, Noah Schmalstig and Mason Bradshaw; with Honorary Pallbearers, Addison Ison, Blaine Huffman and Benjamin Huffman.
