Margaret Ann Hixon

Margaret Ann “Peggy” Hixon, née Saler, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026, in Beavercreek Township at Overbrook Landing, embraced by the love of her family. Born on July 22, 1929, in Ironton, Ohio, Margaret lived a life rich in faith, family, and deeply rooted devotion. Her 97 years were marked by the steady, selfless rhythm of service to others and the joyful bustle of a home always open to those she loved.

From her earliest days, Margaret was known for her strong will and unwavering faith. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in Ironton, Ohio—an early testament to her determination and commitment, attributes that would become hallmarks of her character throughout her life. Her passion for her faith was evident; she attended St. Joseph Parish in Ironton for many years, steadfast in her devotion. She lovingly played the organ at church for an astonishing 72 years, a melody of service that uplifted generations and wove her into the fabric of her church family.

Margaret poured her heart into raising her six children alongside her beloved husband, Kenneth, with whom she shared a lifelong partnership not only at home but in business, as co-owners of Ironton Rent A Tool. Together they built both a family and a livelihood, overcoming life’s challenges side by side. Margaret’s hands never wavered in kindness or care, as she became a dedicated caretaker—not only for her children, but also for her son Alan, for her mother Emma, and for Kenneth during his later years. Each act of love was offered quietly, her strength shining in every devoted gesture.

Her family was Margaret’s proudest accomplishment and greatest source of joy. She leaves behind a legacy of love, survived by her children Julie (Mike) Goldcamp, Jeanette (Dave) Porter, Monica (Scott) Mullins, John (Michelle) Hixon and Paul (Bob) Hixon, who carry forward her values and the warmth of her steadfast care. Her grandchildren—Lisa (Ted) Murdock, James Bunker, Amy (Gary) Day, Kelli (Brandon) Murphy, Carrie (Jim) Dome, Jill (Tim) Terry, Katie Fugett, Drew Porter, Ryan (Melissa) Lynd, Erika (Bill) Wesco, Beth Spears, Susan Lynd, Scott Hixon, Sarah Beth (Ben) Slone—each hold treasured memories of their grandmother’s tender heart and lively spirit.

The next generation of great-grandchildren, including Madison Murdock, Logan Murdock, Maya Bunker, Chris Daniels, Kylie Bunker, Sophia Murphy, Kirsten Dome, James Dome, Rebekah Dome, Caroline Dome, Elijah Dome, Aubrey Terry, Michael Terry, Luke Terry, Cody Fugett, Annabeth Fugett, Grace Fugett, Lilly Fugett, Evan (Alicia) Lynd, Jacob Lynd, David (Miranda) Conn, Caleb (Sydney) Conn, Ben (Stephanie) Conn, Andy Chapman, Devon Wesco, Molly Chapman, Emma Chapman, Trent Chapman,  Mikey (Elaina) Spears, Daphne Lynd, Hendrix Osborne, Sydney Hixon Emelia Jenkins as well as great great grandchildren Lucas, Evelyn, Archer, Bailey, and Bella, are part of her enduring legacy, each one touched by her kindness and wisdom.

Margaret’s heart held space for those she lost: her cherished husband, Kenneth Hixon; son Alan Hixon, parents Joseph and Emma Saler; brothers Joseph Saler and William Saler; her sister Rosemary Day; and grandson in law Jason Spears, whose memory is held close within the family.

Peggy, as she was affectionately known, was not only a matriarch but a friend, community member, and model of strength and generosity. She delighted in having the family over, hosting lively gatherings filled with laughter, games of cards, and stories. Her sharp wit was matched only by her skill as an expert couponer, finding resourceful ways to care for her loved ones. Faith, tenacity, and a mother’s touch defined her—qualities that inspired admiration and deep affection.

Those who knew Margaret speak of a woman who lived her faith openly, showed kindness freely, and gave unreservedly of herself. Her tough, spirited persona was always softened by her nurturing heart—her commitment to faith and family unwavering to the end.

As we say goodbye to Margaret Ann Hixon, we honor a life beautifully lived, rich with love, music, faith, and family. Her legacy continues in each person she touched—with every kind word, every gentle act, every harmonious note she played.
