Marcia Lynn Hohner, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away peacefully with family on October 4, 2026, in Dayton. She was born on April 1, 1953, in Dayton, and her life was one rooted in love, laughter, and devotion to the people and animals she held close.
A 1971 graduate of Belmont High School, Marcia went on to work as a loan officer before embracing what she considered the hardest and most meaningful job of all: being a stay-at-home mom. Her family was her proudest accomplishment, and she poured herself into that role with strength, warmth, and unwavering care.
Marcia will be remembered as funny, kind, and loving, with a great sense of humor that could light up any room. She was the life of the party, quick-witted, sarcastic in the best way, and fiercely protective of those she loved. She had a deep love for animals of all kinds and found joy in caring for them. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, following sports, and, above all, spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Bill, her partner for 40 years; her children, Brooke Ashmore and Patrick Hohner; her sister, Lisa (Manny) Corral, and her dear friend, Marcia Long. She also leaves behind her beloved fur babies, Annie, Smokey, and Tiger, who were cherished members of her family, as well as multiple nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends. The love Marcia gave so freely will continue to live on in all who knew her and were fortunate enough to share in her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oakley and Betty Dagley, and by her brother, Mark Dagley.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on October 13, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Beavercreek, 3380 Dayton Xenia Rd, Beavercreek, Ohio 45432.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Marcia's memory to The Humane Society of Greater Dayton.
Marcia’s memory will be treasured for her laughter, her loyalty, her fierce love, and the unmistakable spark she brought to every gathering. She leaves behind a family shaped by her care and a circle of loved ones who will carry her spirit with them always.
