Malcolm Atwood Gunder, age 87 of Huber Heights, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 22, 2019. He was born on August 31, 1931 in South Vienna, Ohio to the late Juanita and Owen Gunder. A graduate of Paterson Co-op, Malcolm went on to enlist in the United States Army after completing his education. He proudly and honorably served his country during the Korean War.
Malcolm went on to work as a service man for Sears for 43 years until his retirement. He was a kind, caring, and compassionate father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and dear friend. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Malcolm was preceded in death by his bother, Leon Gunder.
Malcolm leaves to cherish his memory, loving son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Maggie Gunder; grandchildren, Michael (Krystle) Gunder, II, and their children, Ryan, Alexandra, Emmalynn, and Jayce; Jason (Amber) Hammond and their children, Emily, Kaylie, and Leah; Jennifer Hammond and her son, Eli; and Alaina Hammond. Malcolm is also survived by numerous other loving relatives and dear friends.
A funeral service will take place on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Newcomer North Chapel at 12pm. Visitation for one hour prior to service (11 - 12). Burial to be held on Monday, June 3, 2019 at 12pm at York Center Cemetery(St. Rt. 739, York Center, Ohio).
Malcolm's family would like to extend their gratitude to his caregiver's, Linda Thompson, Lisa Campbell, Alyssa Yates, and Eli Ruggles for all their love, compassion, and care during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Malcolm's memory to the Disabled American Veteran (DAV) or The Wounded Warrior Project.
