Lynn Kay Schaner, passed away on September 25, 2026, in Dayton, Ohio. She was born on January 27, 1953, in Urbana, Ohio, and lived a life marked by devotion to family, learning, and the quiet, enduring beauty of the natural world.

A graduate of Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio, Lynn carried with her an appreciation for growth in all its forms. That spirit found especially joyful expression in the pursuits she loved most. She delighted in working in her garden and flower beds, and for 47 years she was a faithful member of the Goshen Garden Club. Her love of gardening extended into the wider community through the community plant sale and the county fair, where her enthusiasm and care could be shared with others. She also found pleasure in bird watching, taking notice of the life and beauty that surrounded her.

She took immense pleasure in talking to her sister on the phone as well as sharing her love of gardening with her.  Another simple pleasure that Lynn enjoyed was watching western movies.

Lynn's life was deeply rooted in family. She is survived by her husband Joseph C Schaner. She is also lovingly remembered by her daughter April (Jason) Adams and son Joshua Schaner. Her family continued to grow through the generations, and she leaves behind her grandchildren Madison (Sekou Maiga) Bryant, Brooklyn (Kaden Mowers) Bryant, Olivia (Aaron Paggett) Bryant, Ayden (Deven Deering) Adams, Trenton Schaner, Joey Schaner, and Lucus Schaner, as well as her great-granddaughter, Alanah Maiga. She is also survived by her sister and brother, Susan (James Mike) Dorey and Larry (Tammy) Bullard, as well as her nieces and nephews Tim Bullard, Justin Bullard, Kirt Dorsey, Amie Bullard and Aaron Bullard whose place in her life remained part of her enduring family circle.

She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Bullard; her mother, Charlyne A. (Renner) Bullard; and her brother, Alan Bullard.

A celebration of Lynn's life will take place on a future date.  Please check back for details.

Lynn will be remembered for the steady care she gave to the things she loved—her family, her garden, her community, and the simple wonders of the outdoors. The memory of her life remains in the flowers she tended, the traditions she helped sustain, and the generations of family who carry her love forward.
