Evangelist Lula Bell Hemingway Smith, Born December 11, 1926 she was 5th of 6 children born to Henry and Henrietta Hemingway.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 52 1/2 years Sim Smith; Her siblings: Reverend Joseph H Hemingway, Mattie S Shumake, Minnie K Brown, John Hemingway. And Willie L Hemingway; Her daughter Bridget R Smith and grandson Gregory E Smith.
She leaves to cheer her memory a son Sims E Smith Jr, Daughters Barbara A Walker, Sharon M Smith, Andrea G Smith;10 grandchildren, Levi Smith Donyell Taylor, Billie (Stephen) Smith Clinton Shavers, Jasmine Smith, Brandi Smith Faith Smith, Thomas Smith, Tiffany Williams , Tracey Williams; 18 great grandchildren; Special church children's: Bill & Sue Miller, Millard Hall, and Ruth Polen; plus a host of other relatives and friends.
Lula was a license ordain minister she received Christ Jesus at the age of 12 years old. She love to sing ministry to people and had preach in the Dayton Cincinnati area. Lula Loved to sew and had cohead a sewing class she loved to talk to people about Salvation and the love of Jesus. She loved the Lord and you could see it in her life and her journey here on earth. She loved the lord and her family, and the church. Lula loved everybody. She (Lula) will sorely, surely be missed. Even though you can feel in your spirit that she is happy and at peace. She would tell us when we are mad. I love everybody and everybody loves me..
A special loving grateful thank you to Levi Smith for his care of his grandmother and to Tommy Smith grandson Lula ,truly love them both and their care of her was exemplary. God bless them both..
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 from 10:00am to 11:00am at New Beginnings Church of God, 6649 Chambersburg Road, Dayton, Ohio 45424. A funeral service will begin at 11:00am with burial to follow at West Memory Gardens.
