Lucy J. Simpkins, age 63 of Dayton, passed away February 26, 2016. She was born August 29, 1952 in Gallipolis, Ohio to the late Calvin and Ella Mae Williams. In addition to her parents, Lucy was preceded in death by her daughter, Rhonda Mae Cooley; brothers: Roger Williams and Danny Williams; and special niece, Joyce Williams.
Lucy is survived by her husband of 35 years, Joseph Simpkins, Jr.; daughters: Carolyn Watson and Patricia (Ralph) Murph; son, Joseph (Heather) Simpkins, III; special grandson, Adam Cooley; grandchildren: Amanda, Courtney, Larry, Joseph IV, and Abby; special daughter, Angie Paxton; brothers: Calvin Williams, Jr., John Williams and Billy Williams; sisters: Faye Smith and Cindy Smith; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Lucy worked in the deli department at Kroger's on Spinning Road for 21 years. She was a wonderful cook who was known for her delicious cole slaw.
Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 am on Friday, March 4, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, where the funeral service will be held at 10:30 am. Burial to follow at Willow View Cemetery.
