Listen to Obituary

Louise Schaeffer, a beacon of love and strength, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025, surrounded by her cherished family in Miamisburg, Ohio. Born on January 25, 1932, in Adams County, Ohio, Louise was the epitome of warmth and kindness, touching the lives of everyone fortunate enough to cross her path.

Graduating from Belfast High School in 1949, she exemplified the values of hard work and dedication throughout her life. Louise first dedicated herself to her family, nurturing her children with love and devotion. Once they were grown, she expanded her horizons, working at NCR and later serving as a bank teller for Day Air Credit Union. Yet, no accomplishment could rival her pride in her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable joy.

Louise was known for her vibrant personality—a funny, loving, and wonderful friend and neighbor. Her home was a sanctuary, where visitors felt warmly welcomed and right at home. She was a prayer warrior, always there for those in need, and her kindness extended far beyond her immediate family. A long-time member of East Dayton Christian Church, she was deeply involved, participating in the worship team, teaching Sunday School, volunteering, and providing meals for the prayer team.

Her passions included gardening, where she cultivated not only plants but relationships, nurturing friendships that blossomed over time. Louise's caring spirit allowed her to be a caregiver to many family members and friends, always putting others' needs before her own.

Louise's legacy lives on through her beloved family. She is survived by her children: Pamela (Mike) Clymer, Jeff (Gail) Chambers, Mark (Wanda) Chambers, Penny (Kevin) Chandler, Scott Schaeffer, Nachelle Schaeffer, and Todd Schaeffer. She leaves behind precious memories with her grandchildren: Genya (Marc) Devoe, Joel (Cadence) Stanley, Ryan (Kate) Stanley, Joshua Purcell, Chad (Katie) Chambers, Sara Rough, Chelsea (Nate) Billisits, Brittany (Rex) Carpenter, Blaire (Nic) Flood, and Kyle (Jenna) Chambers, along with 24 great-grandchildren who adored her fiercely. Louise also cherished her sister, Betty, and her extended family and friends, all of whom will miss her profoundly.

She was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Neil Schaeffer, whose love and companionship she treasured. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Benjamin Helterbrand, and her brothers: Edsel, Donald, and Delbert Helterbrand.

The memory of Louise will be honored with a visitation on December 29, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home in Beavercreek, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in Louise's memory to Isiah 117 House.
