Louis A. Sanchez

Louis Angel Sanchez, 86, of Washington Township, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2026.

Born in Corozal, Puerto Rico, on April 21, 1940, to the late Herminio and Vivian (Velez) Sanchez, Louis lived a life marked above all by his unwavering love for his family, a deep personal faith, and a lifelong passion for music.

After moving from Puerto Rico to the Bronx, New York, Louie discovered his first love: the guitar. Following his graduation from James Monroe High School in 1958, he launched his music career playing guitar with his first band, the Luis Barcelo Sextet. Over the years, his talent blossomed as he played bass with Chuito Velez Y Sus Estrellas Boricuas, La Plata Sextette, and numerous other bands and musicians.

In 1978, Louie’s life took a profound turn when he found the Lord and was born again. From that point forward, he dedicated his musical gifts to his faith, serving and worshipping through his guitar playing at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Mount Vernon, New York. Whether sharing his music, worshipping, or gathering around the table with loved ones, Louie brought warmth and light to those around him. His faith guided his steps, and his devotion to his family was the cornerstone of his life.

Louis is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Deliz Yolanda Sanchez (nee Roman); his devoted children, Luis Herminio, Elliot, and Eric (Cristina); his cherished grandchildren, Lisette, Anthony, Melissa, Joseph, Brendan, and Kieran; and his half-brother, Nicky Marrero.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herminio and Vivian Sanchez, as well as his step-father, Nicky Marrero, Sr.

A service celebrating Louie's life and faith will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 820 Miamisburg-Centerville Road, Dayton, Ohio 45459. Visitation and service will begin at 11:00 AM, with burial to follow at West Memory Gardens in Moraine, Ohio.
