Louis Elbert Caddell passed away peacefully at Hospice of Dayton after a long illness on April 7, 2017. He was born to Elbert and Mary (Barton) Caddell on October 31, 1955 in Dayton.
Louis graduated from Valley View High School in 1973. After high school he entered the United States Navy where he served on the U.S.S. Davis and U.S.S. Biddle as a machinist mate I. During his service he received the sea service award and the good conduct award. After leaving the U.S. Navy in 1982, he received a degree in engineering from Sinclair Community College in 1988. He used this degree to work at Wright Patterson Air Force Base for many years until his medical retirement.
Louis was a military enthusiast and history buff. He enjoyed bowling and played in several leagues as well as traveling and camping with his children.
Louis is survived by his daughter, Nicole (Aaron) Hilt of Miamisburg; son, Rondal Caddell of Richmond, IN; grandchildren, Piper, Zane, Jacob, Joshua, Grayce and McKenzie; sisters, Betty (Robert) Lane of Farmersville; Mildred Caddell of Kettering; along with brothers, Earl Caddell of West Carrollton and Nathan (Terry) Caddell of Farmersville. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary and father, Elbert.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 14, 2017 from 12:30-1:30pm at Newcomer Funeral Home North Chapel (4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, OH 45424). The service will follow at 1:30pm. Louis will be laid to rest at Holp Cemetery, Dayton, OH.
