Loretta Vincy (Minni) Zappia, age 90 of Dayton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at Miami Valley Hospital with her family at her side.
She was born November 13, 1929 in Endicott, NY, to the late Peter and Mary (Gimmie) Minni.
She always spent her life taking care of others and was a friend to many. She was a graduate of Union Endicott Highschool ~ Class of 1947. She was an excellent cook and started her restaurant career at an early age at her Aunt's restaurant the Endwell Tavern, where she met the love of her life. Then later, at her own restaurant Rocco's Speedie House. After moving to Dayton, Ohio in 1970, she did not work for many years, until 1979, where she became a nanny to some great kids she loved like her own. At this time, she also started her own catering business, Zappia's Catering. She retired from Diet Workshop in 2001 after almost 20 years. She was a long time member of Holy Trinity Catholic church in Dayton OH.
Loretta was preceded in death by her husband, Rocco J Zappia "Rocky"; her son, Mel M. Zappia; parents, Peter and Mary Minni; brothers, Lawrence and Raymond; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Survived by daughter, RoseMary Zappia; granddaughters, Tiffany Wampler (Richard), Christine Mosley, Brooke Robinson(Chadley); great grandchildren, Royce, Trenton, Jordan, Hailey, Brantley "Chief", Tucker, Jace, Willow, Zander; step-great grandson, Little Jordan; sister-in-law, Mary Kay Zappia; Lifelong Best Friend, Sandy Sarno, and very dear to heart, Michelle George(Mark), Ricki Genovesi and Kathy McConnell McCole; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends, as well as her beloved kitty, Clementine.
A special "thank you" to Stephanie Wiley, a very close family friend, who has been there for her and her family and was with them during her passing.
