In Loving Memory
of Loretta Brown
This is a celebration of the life of Loretta W. R. Brown. Loretta was born July 27, 1935 in Harlem, NY to the late Emma Weaver Coles and Frank Rowlett. Loretta started her education in Harlem and graduated from Charles Evans High School in 1953. She went on to receive a degree in Liberal Arts from New York Technical College. Determined to further her education, she went on to receive a BS degree from Mercy College in 1983 taking evening classes, while working full-time and raising four children.
In 1955, she wed Walter Brown, and they were blessed with four children: Ronnie, Danny, Deborah, and Malcom.
After a successful career, Loretta retired from Pepsi Cola with 20 years of faithful service. She was a fun-loving, kindhearted, outgoing person, who found success as a Mary Kay beauty consultant for sixteen years. She met people as a consultant; some became customers, and some became good friends.
Loretta joined Grace Baptist church in Mt. Vernon on December 3, 2000, and was baptized under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. W. Franklyn Richardson. She served faithfully, and was a member of the Support Ministry until she moved to Albany, NY in 2006.
In December, 2011 she became a member of Metropolitan New Testament Mission Baptist Church, under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. Damone Paul Johnson.
Loretta worked in the community for a number of years as a poll inspector during general elections. She was a member of the Red Hat Belles in Albany, and also enjoyed participating in the Afro Caribbean and Modren Line dance group. Dancing with Our Elders sponsored by Trinity Center, they performed for nursing homes, schools, senior organizations, community centers, and anyone that requested their services.
Loretta was preceded in death by her mother; father; husband, Walter Brown; Sisters, Beatrice Chavis & Arthur Mae Hyman; and her daughter, Deborah Brown. She leaves to cherish her memory three sons: Ronald (Tina), Danny (Thelma), and Malcom Brown; brother: Clifford Weaver; seven grandchildren: Yolanda, Rarrmel, Shannon (Tracey) Lexus, Danny Jr., Darius, and Darnell; five great-grand children: Autumn, Chance, Christopher, Ashton, Adrian; five nieces: Delores, Denise, Diane, Sheila (Booda), and Keisha; and nine nephews: Raymond, Lionel, Tony, Michael, Gerald, Clifford, Jr., Shawn, Stanley (Poo), and Aaron.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 23, 2025 from 12:00pm - 1:00pm with funeral services beginning at 1:00pm all at Newcomer Funeral Home - North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd. Dayton, OH 45424. Loretta will be laid to rest at Shiloh Park cemetery.
