Lois Jean Smith (née Dickey) was born on May 19, 1925, in Greenville, Ohio, and passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026, in Dayton, Ohio. Lois lived her remarkable 101 years with unwavering grace, tremendous faith, and a steadfast devotion to her loved ones.
Those who knew Lois will remember her as an extraordinary wife, mother, and grandmother, whose warmth and care created a home that was always immaculate and welcoming. The doors of her home were always open, and her gentle spirit was felt by all who crossed her threshold. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family, giving generously to those around her in both good times and bad.
Lois’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. An avid churchgoer, she found joy and purpose in participating in countless church events throughout the years. Her faith was not just a private solace but something she shared openly-Lois was also an accomplished gospel singer, and her voice lifted spirits and inspired congregations on many a Sunday morning. Her songs resonate still in the hearts of those who heard them, echoing the depth of her belief and love.
Family remained Lois’s greatest treasure throughout her life. She is survived by her loving son, David Cultice; daughters in law, Stephanie Cultice and Jeannie Seward; cherished grandchildren Jason Seward, Rene Cultice, Douglas Cultice, Cyndi Wood, and Nathan Cultice; adoring great-grandchildren Benjamin, Corey, Jacob, Katie, JJ, and Johnnie; and great-great-grandchildren, Mordecai, and Delilah. Her beloved brother, Francis Dickey and his wife, Christine (and their children, Jule and Duane) also survive her, along with cousins, other relatives, and friends who all mourn her passing and celebrate the blessing of having known her.
Lois joins in eternal rest her parents, Earnest and Ruby Dickey; her husbands, Gale Cultice, Harry Seward, and Ray Smith; her longtime companion, Richard Smith; her dear son, Larry Seward; and beloved grandson, Sam. The memory of these cherished relationships and the love they shared continues to shine through the generations.
Her legacy-a life of unwavering faith, endless love, and gentle strength-inspires all who knew her, and her presence will be deeply missed.
A celebration of life is being planned and will be announced soon.
