Born on January 4, 1941, in Elmira, New York, Linda's journey through life was marked by dedication, kindness, and a steadfast commitment to improving the lives of those around her.
Linda graduated from Vestal High School in the class of 1959 and further pursued her ambitions at the Grace Downs Flight Attendant School in New York City, graduating that same year.
Throughout her adult life, Linda embraced numerous leadership roles that underscored her devotion to helping others and enhancing her community. She served with distinction as a board member for The Developmental Center for Handicapped Children, where her efforts helped to provide critical support and resources. As President of The Kettering Mother Singers, she fostered a sense of camaraderie among the members and arranged free performances in many local senior living centers. Her commitment to aesthetic and community improvements shone as Chair of the Kettering Beautification Committee, where she encouraged and recognized the efforts of others.
Her dedication did not go unnoticed. Linda was proudly recognized as a recipient of the Kettering ACTIVE volunteer award, an honor reflecting her impressive 3,300 hours of volunteer service. She was also a celebrated awardee of the Kettering Mayor's Award for Volunteer Service, a testament to her enduring impact and generosity.
Beyond her professional and volunteer achievements, Linda found joy and solace in her personal interests. She was an avid gardener, animal lover, and bird watcher, often spending tranquil hours immersed in her immaculate and diverse gardens. Her love for antiques and collectibles revealed an appreciation for history and craftsmanship, and her keen eye for interior design reflected an innate creativity and warmth that she extended to her home and those who entered it.
Linda’s family was the heart of her world. She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Vasil George, and their children, Leslie Skinner (Gene) and Kevin George (Stephanie Barnett). Her affection extended to her grandchildren, Audrey and Conner Skinner, Chloe and Teagan George, who brought immeasurable joy and pride to her life. She also cared deeply for her nieces and their families, Jody Price (Griffith), Monica Johnson (Tom), and Kimberly Briggs (Tim).
