Linda Faye Coston, affectionately known to many as Linda Faye, passed away on May 12, 2026, in Dayton, Ohio, leaving behind a legacy defined by boundless generosity, unyielding hard work, and deep love for her family and friends. Born on May 1, 1946, in Livingston, Tennessee, Linda Faye’s journey was a testament to a life beautifully lived with purpose and passion.
Linda Faye graduated from Stivers High School and dedicated much of her working life to McCook's Bowling Alley, where she became a familiar and cherished presence. She concluded her career at Frisch's Big Boy, reflecting a lifetime of commitment and dedication. Beyond her professional achievements, she was a woman who loved to entertain, especially during the holidays. Family gatherings were her hallmark — every occasion thoughtfully planned and warmly hosted, leaving memories that will forever echo in the hearts of those privileged to attend.
Known for her very giving and generous nature, Linda Faye was the heart of her family’s celebrations, bringing everyone together with a spirit of joy and care. Her love for fishing and card games like Gin, Euchre, and Rook added a playful dimension to her vibrant personality. She was also proud of a unique accomplishment — winning a medal in her nursing home's Olympics in Table Bowling, a reflection of her enduring competitive spirit and zest for life.
Linda Faye’s life was deeply intertwined with her loved ones. She was the beloved mother to Teresa Eichbaum (Jack) and Raymond Shepherd (Kim). Her brothers, August Long (Jean) and Anthony Long (Cristy), stand alongside her children, sharing in the profound loss. Cherished grandmother to Ciara Herring (James), Taylor Shepherd (Scotty), Brianna Waddell (Austin), Justyn Eichbaum (Madi), Angela Goicoechea (Mike) and Julia Gennocro; she was also a proud great-grandmother to Kaysen, James "LJ," Legend, Ike, Acelyn, Michael, and Sophia. She leaves behind numerous other family members and friends, all touched by her warmth and kindness.
Linda Faye was preceded in death by her parents, Haskel Long and Mable Pennington; her husband, John Coston; and her sister, Ruth Todd. These loved ones remain in the hearts of all who remember her.
A visitation to honor Linda Faye’s life will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, Ohio 45424, where the funeral service will begin at 1:30 PM. Burial to follow at Woodland Cemetery, Dayton, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be in Linda Faye's memory to Pink Ribbon Good, 1201 Brukner Dr., Troy, Ohio 45373 or to St. Jude Children's Hospitals.
Linda Faye’s life was a shining example of love in action—steadfast, selfless, and filled with joy.
