Lewis “Lew” A. Poormon, age 97, of New Carlisle, Ohio passed away peacefully at home on May 6, 2026. Lew was born in Fayette, New York on September 20, 1928, to the late Howard and Dorothy Poormon.

Lew was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Howard Poormon Jr., William "Bill" Poormon, John "Jack" Poormon, Laura Werner and Kenneth "Kenny" Poormon; as well as his nephews, Lawrence "Larry" Poormon and Tpr. Kenneth "Kenny" Poormon.

He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Harriet Poormon (Hunt), children, Mark Poormon, Jan Poormon, Scott Poormon, Curt Poormon and Kevin Poormon; as well as numerous family members and friends.

Lew graduated from Romulus Central School, Romulus, New York Class of 1947, where he also excelled in athletics. His early life was spent working on the family farm in upstate New York.

He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1948 and served with distinction for 26 years, retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant. While Lew was in the service, he was an aircraft crew chief, aircraft electrician, and a flightline field maintenance supervisor and also played for a U.S. Air Force ‘semi-pro’ baseball team. Following his U.S. Air Force tenure, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 11 years.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed playing golf. He was a loving husband and father - compassionate and generous - a Christian man of Faith with a warm sense of humor. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Compassus Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association.
