Lester R. Kennedy, age 90 of Riverside, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2018 at his residence. He was born December 4, 1927 in Xenia, Ohio the son of the late William and Icie Kennedy.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Mohr; brother, Paul Kennedy and great grandchildren, Kourtney and Jayden.
Lester is survived by his wife of 65 years, Phyllis; daughter, Vicki Kennedy Barger; son, William Lester (Janet) Kennedy; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sisters, Patricia (Howard) Waymeyer and Bonnie (Kenny) Stump; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Lester was a graduate of Spring Valley H.S. class of 1947 and he also served in the Army 63rd Corp of Engineers during the Korean War. Lester was employed by Albers Supermarket for 20 years and the U.S. Postal Service, retiring after 24 years. He was also active for many years serving in the Royal Ranger Ministry for Boys.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at Newcomer North Chapel (4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, Ohio 45424). Funeral service will begin at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Park Cemetery.
