Leonard Thomas Orr

Leonard Thomas Orr "Tom" passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family at his home in Dayton, Ohio on May 3, 2017.

Tom served in the U.S. Marine Corps and served 2 tours during the Vietnam War. After serving in the armed forces, Tom went on to retire from General Motors and the Civil Engineers at WPAFB.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy Orr and Garrett Taylor Orr; brothers, Emmett and Marvin Orr.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn (Gray) Orr; devoted children: Darren (Michelle) Orr, Valarie (Jerry Vandegraft) Orr and Kimberly (Ronald) Bowman, Sr. Tom was dearly loved by his 7 grandchildren whom he also leaves behind: Ashley (Josh) Lanigan, Lyndsi (James) Fitzsimmons, Chelsea (Stephen) Dyson, Devon Orr, Ronald Bowman Jr, Brooke Bowman and Calyn Orr. He is additionally survived by 5 great-grandchildren: Caleb and Thomas Lanigan, Gatlin and Rayleigh Dyson and Gus Fitzsimmons; 6 brothers: Garrett, Emery, Hansford, Duane, Robert and James; along with many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 10 am until 12 noon on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at New Life Worship Center, 3350 Benchwood Road, Dayton, where the funeral service will begin at 12 noon. Pastor Thomas Friend officiating. Burial and Military Honors will take place at Dayton National Cemetery at 1:30 pm. Arrangements by Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road.
