Leo Edward Day, age 85, passed away on June 19, 2018, at St. Leonard Living Care Center, Centerville, Ohio. Leo was born to Gabriel & Bessie Day, in Shelby, Ohio, on February 3, 1933.
Leo was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Irene Day; daughter, Debra A. Day; siblings, Imogene Day Lewis, Nell Day Popa, Ruth Day Stanford and Harold Raymond Day; and his parents, Gabriel & Bessie Day.
Leo is survived by his daughters, Terri (Walt) FitzHarris, of Washington Township, Beverly A. Day, of Dayton, Melinda (Paul) Fasolo, of Seattle, Washington; beloved granddaughter, Ali FitzHarris; siblings, Marie Day Dodge, Phyllis Day Kempf, Ronald Day and Norman Day.
Leo was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
A longtime resident of Fairborn, Ohio, Leo was employed by the government at WPAFB as a forklift operator in the warehouse for 30 years, before retiring in 1985.
Outside his love for his family, Leo was passionate about the Cleveland Browns, the Cleveland Indians, golf, camping and traveling.
Leo and his wife, Irene, traveled extensively in their RV, as members of the Good Sam and Scotty Travel Trailer Clubs. Leo and Irene celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on Memorial Day Weekend 2017.
Leo's family is grateful and thankful for the compassionate caregivers and nursing staff at St. Leonard and the Hospice of Dayton.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Hospice of Dayton would be appreciated in Leo's memory.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 12:30pm at St. Leonard Center Chapel, 8100 Clyo Road, Centerville, OH.
Leo will be laid to rest next to wife at Byron Cemetery.
