Leo M. Adams, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025, in Dayton, Ohio, at the age of 79. Born on April 21, 1946, in Somerset, Kentucky, Leo lived a life characterized by dedication and warmth that touched the hearts of all who knew him.
Leo served his country honorably in the U.S. Army, an experience that instilled in him a strong sense of duty and camaraderie. After his military service, he channeled his expertise into a successful career as a diesel mechanic, where he was known not only for his skill but also for his kind spirit and infectious sense of humor. Loved by everyone, Leo had a talent for jokes that brought joy to countless faces.
A passionate lover of the outdoors, Leo found solace in nature, enjoying activities such as gardening, particularly his prized tomato plants. His love of children was evident in his interactions with family and friends, where he often showcased his playful side. Additionally, he had a fervent enthusiasm for NASCAR.
Leo was a cherished family man, leaving behind his life partner and soulmate, Judy Merritt. He is survived by his son, Clayton (Tabatha) Adams; his daughter, Nancy Adams; and his grandchildren, Madison, Ryenne, Kyleigh, Aria, Jessica, Emily, Jay D., and Tyler. The family legacy continues with his great-grandchildren, Leon, Hank, Waylon, Macey, and Charley. Leo also leaves behind his sisters, Julie, Linda, and Roxy, whose bonds were strengthened through shared memories and love.
Leo was preceded in death by his father, Maurice Adams; his mother, Leona Adams; the mother of his children, Penny Adams; his granddaughter, Kearstin; his brother, Lloyd; and his sister, Marie. While the loss of Leo leaves a profound void in the hearts of his family and friends, his spirit, laughter, and unwavering love will be forever remembered by those who had the privilege to know him.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 17th, 2025 from 9-10 am at the Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton. OH 45424. The service will follow at 10am. Leo will be laid to rest at Willow View Cemetery.
