Lela M. Valentine

Lela M. Valentine of Dayton, Ohio passed away January 7, 2025. She was born June 10, 1940 in Montgomery Alabama to Will and Julia Briggs.

One of 12 children, Lela is survived by her sisters Ella Briggs and Avan Bristow. She is also survived by her children Dedria Valentine, Zane Valentine, and Patrick Valentine (deceased) as well as grandchildren Corrie (Nicolette) Bostock, Gerren Oliver, and Jared Valentine as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Her “most precious” were her great-grandchildren and great-great granddaughter.

Lela retired from Miami Valley Hospital after 34 years where she worked as a Nurse Aide in the nursery. She loved to travel and was a huge fan of jazz music. She was a devoted and dedicated member of Jehovah’s Witnesses sharing the good news to all she loved and those she met.

Lela will be deeply missed by all who experienced her infectious laugh, generous hugs, encouraging letters, great cooking, but more importantly her special love.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm on Friday,  January 24, 2025 at Southwest-West Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses (1015 Liscum Drive, Dayton, OH 45417). Funeral Service will be officiated by David De'Priest at 12:00 pm following visitation.
