Sortman, Lawrence E., age 78, of Union, went to be with his Lord, March 27, 2016. Larry was born on July 20, 1937 to the late Russell and Vanda (nee Davis) Sortman. He was an avid volunteer in the Dan Beard Council of Boy Scouts and Mended Hearts of Dayton. He also proudly served and had an Honorable discharged from the Navy and the Naval Reserves.
Larry is preceded in death by all his brothers and sisters.
Larry is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn Sue (nee Waldon); his children, April (Greg) Firsdon, Brian (Matt McKeever) Sortman, Teresa McMahan Tanner; grandchildren, Ashley Firsdon, Stephen Firsdon, Kendra McMahan, Madison McMahan, Katherine Firsdon, Jonathan Firsdon, Cassidy McMahan.
Services are private and entrusted to Newcomer Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, Ohio 45420.
