LaVerne Alice Matulka, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on September 1, 2025, in Beavercreek, Ohio, with her loving family by her side. She was born on September 21, 1934, in Bee, Nebraska, to her parents Ernest and Kathryn Policky.

LaVerne graduated from Ceresco High School in Nebraska and was a professional cake designer with Mrs. CB Woita, where her creativity and artistry delighted many. Her sweet, caring, and kind nature showed in every aspect of her life. Adored by her family, she was a "Mother Extraordinaire." Her dedication to her loved ones was profound, and her unwavering faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was a faithful member of St. Luke Catholic Church in Beavercreek.

LaVerne found joy in gardening and was skilled at refinishing old furniture, procuring generous donations on trash day or from Goodwill. She loved to spend time outdoors, reveling in the natural world around her, which brought her immense peace.

LaVerne leaves behind a loving family who will carry her spirit forward. She is survived by her children: Donna (John) Stafford, Daniel Matulka (Jennifer Eberenz), David (Tawana) Matulka, and Deborah Matulka (Ed Parks). She was a proud grandmother to fourteen grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by her brother, Eugene Policky; and her sisters-in-law, Rose Marie Rawlinson & Janet Matulka.

LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Donald "Don" Matulka; and her brothers, Ernie Policky and Richard Policky.

A visitation in her honor will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service at 3:00 PM, all held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek.

LaVerne Matulka lived a life rich in love, family and faith. Her memory will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Donations may be made in her memory to the St. Vincent de Paul Homeless Shelter, 124 W. Apple St., Dayton, OH 45402.
