LaVerne Bailey

LaVerne "Verno" Bailey, age 89, departed the earthly life on June 21, 2026. Born December 3, 1936 to Jarriett and Flossie Bailey in Dayton, Ohio.

Vern attended Weaver Elementary School and graduated in 1954 from Dunbar High School in Dayton, Ohio. He retired from Inland Manufacturing after 35 years of service.

LaVerne was an advocate sports fan and coached for several years for the Dayton Little League. He was inducted into the Dayton Ohio Softball Hall of Fame.

Vern loved to play cards with his friends; John Wise, Phillip Coble, Ron Ladd and his Xenia Family.

LaVern was preceded in death by his parents, son Darren Bailey and daughter Natalie Walters; three sisters Wanda Lewis, Velma Lewis and Shelia Brown; granddaughter Kadija Bailey and mother in law Janice Howard.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory: devoted wife Victoria Bailey; children Erric (Tosha) Bailey, John (Keni) Bailey, Kevin Sidberry, Antawn Sidberry, Rodney Johnson and Tina Blackwell; sisters Vivian (Elvin) Goode and Janice Gaffney and father in law Donald Howard Sr. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephew and friends.

Public visitation will be held at Corinthian Baptist Church (700 S. James McGee Blvd Dayton, Ohio) on Saturday July 11, 2026 at 10:00 am with memorial service to follow at 11:00 am. He will be laid to rest at Valley View Memory Gardens.
